Senior Social Worker required for the HSE Adult Mental Health Services based in Ballinasloe, Co Galway.
Cpl Healthcare are currently recruiting for a Social Worker for a temporary agency role working as part of the HSE Adult Mental Health Services. The role is a Social Worker working in a Multi-Disciplinary Mental Health Team in the Ballinasloe Area of County Galway. The team provides assessment and treatment to adults (18 to 65+) presenting with serious mental illness including anxiety disorders; depression; psychosis (includes those presenting with Bi-polar Disorder and Schizophrenia) and Personality Disorders – serving a population of 50,000. The Team provide continuity of service during inpatient treatment and are involved in Care Planning and Discharge. The multi-disciplinary Team includes Psychiatrists; Nurses; Occupational Therapist and Psychologist. A Family Peer Support Worker and a Housing Co-ordinator also provides a service to this team.
It would be desirable that the candidate has experience of having worked with Adults with Mental Health Difficulties and complex welfare issues e.g. homelessness; financial hardship etc
In summary the role involves undertaking initial assessments; care planning with the Service User and the other disciplines involved; family work; input in to a Family Clinic in the Inpatient Unit; providing counselling/supportive psychotherapy; advocacy work in relation to housing needs, welfare issues and complex legal issues. The Mental Health Social Work department has a special interest in developing Family Focussed Practice – and Social Workers have access to training in a range of Family Focussed Interventions. The Candidate:
· A recognised qualification as a Social Worker
· Registration with CORU
· Excellent knowledge of legislation within the area
· Permission to work in Ireland
· Professional approach to work
· Flexibility in work practice
· Access to a car and full driver’s licence for home and school visits.
Qualifications:
• Possess a professional Social Work Qualification
• Be registered as a Social Worker with CORU
• Garda vetted
• Three years’ experience post qualification
