Our client, a heavy-industry manufacturing site in Drogheda, requires an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate work in a production facility, using the most advanced, energy-efficient technology, creating a range of exceptional products. This role will play a key part in maintaining plant reliability, managing contractors, and guiding engineers and technicians across a busy maintenance environment. Lead Mechanical Engineer
Location: Drogheda, Co.Louth
Work Model: 5 days onsite
Type: Permanent
Role
• Lead maintenance activity across a defined plant area
• Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance plans
• Direct contractors and guide junior engineers and technicians
• Plan shutdowns and major overhauls
• Troubleshoot failures and improve equipment reliability
• Support and deliver large-scale plant improvement projects
• Maintain and improve safety and environmental standards
Requirements
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Min 5 years experience in mechanical engineering within Ireland
• Strong background in heavy industry, utilities, cement, quarry, mining, or large-scale manufacturing
• Proven experience leading people, contractors, or engineering teams
• Solid understanding of reactive and preventative maintenance
• Ability to plan downtimes, manage resources, and deliver projects
• Confident communicator who can influence and guide others
• Full right to work in Ireland (no sponsorship offered)
• Residing within a commutable distance of the site
• Comfortable working onsite 5 days per week
