Position Summary
The Estimator – (O&M) is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for power station O&M mechanical works to support tender preparation, commercial submissions, and post-award handover to delivery teams.
In this role, you will be working with other members of the Estimating, Operations and Maintenance team, as well as occasionally with the other Procurement and Engineering team/teams, and will be reporting to the Business Development Director.
Responsibilities
· Prepare accurate, clear, and auditable cost estimates for power station O&M mechanical works.
· Review RFQs/enquiries, confirm scope boundaries, and issue clarifications, assumptions, exclusions, and qualifications.
· Develop labour-hour build-ups and pricing using APC methods, historic data, and repeatable annual work norms.
· Work with the Operations Manager to agree on methodology, resourcing, access constraints, outage sequencing, and durations.
· Remain largely self-sufficient; engage procurement team for exceptional items and specialist vendor pricing when required.
· Price all costs, including labour, site set-up, management, tools/consumables, welding requirements, HSQE/quality documentation, NDT, scaffolding, heat treatment, insulation, transport, hire/plant/cranes, safety services and materials.
· Attend site visits/walkdowns where needed to validate access, logistics and execution assumptions.
· Support internal bid reviews and client negotiations.
· Handover the estimate basis and budget structure to the delivery after the award.
· Support APC's other business functions as applicable to gain further experience.
