Your Educational Background and Experience
• Professional qualification (ACA, CFA or equivalent);
• M&A Transaction Services or Corporate Finance background would be an advantage;
• Strong financial and analytical skills, with attention to detail;
• Knowledge of financial modelling and valuations;
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
The key elements of the role are outlined below. Flexibility may be required, with some core process elements, but also periodic emphasis on project-based activities.
Strategic Planning
• Consolidate Divisional financial planning models as part of the 5-year Strategic Plan process;
• Develop integrated projections, incorporating key aspects of Finance / Tax / Treasury / Risk;
• Provide support for scenario analysis / downside cases, assessing the impact of potential mitigating actions;
• Review performance bridges underlying profit improvement initiatives;
• Overlay the impact of different capital allocation strategies;
• Assist with the design and implementation of financial planning tools and systems;
• Assist in the preparation of Group and Divisional Strategy Documents for the Board.
Corporate Finance / Valuations
• Prepare high-level and detailed valuations e.g. Transaction multiples / DCF calculations / LBO models;
• Support with assessing the key financial impacts of large deals e.g. EPS / Debt metrics;
• Liaise with Investment Banks and other advisors to understand sector developments and financial markets;
• Perform detailed benchmarking across companies, focusing on margins, returns and cash;
• Work with the team to develop toolkits and guidelines for valuation-related activities;
• Work with other departments on confidential projects e.g. Group Leadership Team / Investor Relations.
M&A / Divestment processes
• Support finance and valuation-related workstreams of M&A and Divestment processes;
• Liaise with 3rd party advisors on both buy-side and sell-side transactions;
• Work with other deal team members across workstreams on live transactions;
• Review investment proposal opportunities for medium and large transactions;
• Prepare briefing papers, proposals and strategy presentations for the Group Leadership Team and Board.
