Private Streets Inspector
CPL have partnered with Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to recruit for a Private Street Inspector (PTO Grade) to join their team on a temporary contract of 6 - 12 months, with possibility of extension.
· Pay Rate - £15.21 per/hr
· Location – DfI, Roads - Development Control and Private Streets
· Benefits – 37 days holiday per annum
· Hours – 37 hours per week
Responsibilities will include:
· Prepare calculations for Article 3(4)C Agreement and Road Bond and Article 32 Agreement and Road Bond for roads/footways determined for adoption.
· Visit/monitor sites to assess confirmation with determination drawing and assess site suitability for Bond Reductions and adoption by DfI Roads
· Visit sites on a periodic basis to determine if work has started prior to the necessary road bond being put in place.
· Prepare and process DfI Roads adoption drawings as required.
· Compile snag lists for Article 11 and pre-adoption repair work.
· Supervise contractors on site as required (minor works).
· Meet with residents, contractors, developers, elected representatives, utilities as required.
· Liaise with Street Lighting section, NI Water, and other utilities regarding defects.
· Draft replies to letters, e-mails and prepare statistics as required.
· General office duties, filing and computer skills etc including Input of information to a database.
Essential Experience/Qualifications
· At least a Level 3 BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in Civil Engineering or Building Studies and a minimum of 1 year’s post qualification experience, gained within the last 7 years, in at least 3 of the following areas:
OR
· A BTEC Higher National Certificate in Civil Engineering or Building Studies
OR
· A Degree in Civil Engineering.
AND
· A full current driving licence and access to a car enabling the licence holder to drive vehicles in Northern Ireland. (costs associated with official car usage will be reimbursed)
Desired Experience/Qualifications
Demonstrable experience in at least 3 of the following areas:
· Topographical surveys e.g. watercourse inspections, site investigation, setting line and level;
· Preparation and updating of engineering drawings;
· Use of computer applications in the workplace e.g. spreadsheets/CAD;
· (Supervision of civil engineering site works, e.g. contractors/direct labour force;
· Preparation of civil engineering contract documents e.g. specifications/bills of quantities; Preparation of engineering reports and calculations e.g. site survey reports and feasibility reports;
OR
· A BTEC Higher National Certificate in Civil Engineering or Building Studies or a degree in Civil Engineering.
AND
· A full current driving licence enabling the licence holder to drive vehicles in Northern Ireland.
Relevant or Equivalent Qualifications
Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
Alternatively, consideration may be given to candidates who can clearly demonstrate suitable experience and ability to enable them to carry out the duties of the job description.
