Key Skills:
- Must have a broad understanding within Pharma. Clinical drug development would be a significant advantage
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science
- Experience of development of new statistical software / analysis tools - Experience, or understanding, of end-to-end agile software tool development and lifecycle management
- Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g. R & Python)
In this role, you will belong to the Early Biometrics & Statistical Innovation (EB&SI) department, where our data-centric focus helps us work efficiently and creatively to bring the right medicines to the right patients. Our teams use their expertise in statistics and programming to address drug development objectives and reduce uncertainty in product development, driving better business decisions with quantitative reasoning. As part of the Data Science & AI team, you’ll use technology at the forefront of science in a creative environment, with the scope to develop new statistical ideas and apply them in your work.
This software tool development position sits in our Quantitative Solutions (QS) group, within EB&SI. QS is a centre of excellence for building high quality software tools to provide novel statistical analyses, advanced analytics and business solutions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a tool Developer you will be part of the Quantitative Solutions team providing high quality software solutions in support of the drug development portfolio, for example:
- Propensity Scores
- Indirect Comparisons
- Trial design simulations
- Data visualisations
- Subgroup Analyses
- Decision making methodologies
- Machine learning
- Technical expertise on tool development to staff within EB&SI, DS&AI and across company
Working alongside others, you will contribute programming expertise in R and/or python for the agile development of new software tools. You will be responsible for improving the productivity, scalability and ease of use of existing tools and solutions, whilst ensuring that our statistical software tools are developed and validated to the company and regulatory standards.
Requirements
Essential
- Experience of providing programming for package development, testing and validation of R packages for either statistical analysis, modelling & simulation, or business applications
- BSc or above in biostatistics, mathematics, informatics or related subject
- Broad understanding of clinical drug development & the pharmaceutical environment
Desirable
- Experience, or understanding, of end-to-end agile software tool development and lifecycle management
- Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g. R-Shiny, Java, Python, Spotfire, C/C++, VBA/VBS) would be advantageous
