About CRR
The Commission for Railway Regulation (CRR) is the independent regulatory body with responsibility for the oversight of railway safety in the Republic of Ireland and reports to the Minister for Transport.
The CRR is committed to advancing railway safety, fostering the maintenance and further development of high-performing and sustainable railway systems, and ensuring fair access to the Irish conventional railway network through regulation, monitoring, encouragement, and promotion.
The use of rail as a means of public transport is a central element of Government policy. Prior to COVID restrictions, there had been consistent growth in passenger journeys - with close to 100m in 2019. With the return to increased use of public transport along with Ireland’s National Development Plan, including significant investment in rail/tramway infrastructure and rolling stock projects over the coming years, the CRR is entering an active and interesting time where the demands on our safety and regulatory roles will increase. As a result, they need committed, energetic, and competent people to respond to these demands.
