Accounts Assistant – Cork - 3 days a week
Our client, a well-established legal firm based in Cork, is seeking to hire a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant on a permanent, 3 days a week basis. This is a key position within the firm, offering a broad range of finance and administrative responsibilities within a professional and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with internal and external accounting standards. This role is ideally suited to someone with previous experience in legal accounts or a strong finance background looking for part-time hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain daily financial transactions including receipts, payments, and general ledger entries
- Set up and manage new client ledgers
- Maintain the Register of Undertakings
- Generate and process payment runs
- Prepare and issue client billing
- Reconcile monthly creditor statements and arrange payments to suppliers
- Complete bank reconciliations for all firm accounts
- Prepare accurate month-end reports
- Process payroll and related submissions
- Respond to ad hoc finance queries and perform investigative tasks when required
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in legal accounting or within a professional services finance team preferred
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial reporting principles
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Familiarity with ROS, VAT, and payroll processes is desirable
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative work ethic
