Behaviour Specialist – North Laois/East Offaly network area
Behaviour Specialist are required to join the Childrens Disability Network Team, in partnership with the HSE.
The Children Disability Network Services provides support and input to children and young people from age 0 to 18 who have complex needs associated with disabilities. Input and support will be through an Interdisciplinary Team approach, underpinned by Family Centred Practice and Individual Family Service Planning. There is an emphasis in adopting neuroaffirmative approaches in providing supports.
The Team includes Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Administrators, Community Nurse, Dietitian
The team covers the North Laois/East Offaly network area.
Job responsibilities:
• Provide support for children experiencing behaviors of concern and enable families to meet the needs of the child with complex needs within the context of the family
• Provide evidence based support, emphasing every child is an active participant in their home and local community.
• Provide educational support and groups with other members of the CDNT on a regular basis in a variety of areas.
• Collaboratively work with trusted support people to identify, plan, implement and evaluate support plans where required, respecting a child’s unique strengths and abilities.
• Ensure all supports promote the rights of the child and are based on the holistic assessment of the child and their families needs.
• Work as part of the interdisciplinary team members making and accepting referrals for children as necessary.
The Candidate:
1.Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
(i) Hold a BCBA certification or equivalent.
And
(ii) Hold a Master’s degree (Psychology, Education or equivalent).
OR
Are registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or entitled to be so registered.
And
(III) Evident recent, relevant experience in a similar type role.
And
(iii)Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
And
(iv) Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.
2.Annual registration
(i) On appointment, practitioners with a nursing background must maintain live annual registration on the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).
And
(ii) Confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
