BOOKKEEPER (JUNIOR & SENIOR ROLES AVAILABLE)
A modern, fast-growing accountancy and payroll firm based in Galway is expanding its team. With a dedicated payroll division handling complex, high-volume processing, the firm offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment where detail, efficiency, and collaboration are valued. As client demand continues to grow, we are now hiring both Junior and Senior Bookkeepers to join our accounts and payroll team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
For Both Roles
- Manage daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping tasks for clients across a range of sectors
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and perform bank reconciliations
- Maintain financial records using platforms such as Surf, Sage, QuickBooks, and Xero
- Process payroll for clients using Thesaurus or BrightPay
- Ensure all submissions meet Revenue deadlines and compliance standards
- Communicate with clients to gather information and resolve queries professionally
- Support the wider team with accurate year-end payroll and financial reporting
Additional Responsibilities – Senior Bookkeeper
- Lead the management of complex or high-volume client portfolios
- Review junior team members’ bookkeeping and payroll work
- Provide guidance and training to junior staff
- Flag client or compliance issues for escalation
- Assist in refining internal systems and quality control processes
REQUIREMENTS
Junior Bookkeeper
- 1–2 years' experience in a bookkeeping or payroll support role within a practice
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas and formatting
- Comfortable working across multiple accounting/payroll software platforms
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
- Organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Senior Bookkeeper
- 3–5 years' experience in a practice-based bookkeeping or payroll role
- Advanced Excel capabilities and analytical skills
- Able to manage client portfolios independently and build strong relationships
- Deep understanding of payroll legislation and Revenue compliance
- Experience mentoring or reviewing junior team members is a plus
