The Technical department encompasses several business areas including Technical Standards and Quality, High Performance Building Retrofits, EPBD Concerted Action, BER Coordination, BER Calculation Methodology, BER Software & systems, and BER Operations.
Under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), Member States are required to provide energy performance certificates (EPCs), known as Building Energy Ratings (BERs) in Ireland, to building owners to help them understand energy performance of their building. To do this, we must ensure that there are appropriate calculation methodologies to quantify the energy needs, software and systems to facilitate the production of BERs and an operations team to train and manage the assessors to produce BERs.
Reporting to the BER Coordination Programme Manager, the successful candidate will have a key role in delivering the Minimum Energy Performance standards (MEPs) in the EPBD recast by May 2026, supporting the delivery of other recast requirements, and identify areas of continuous improvement in the BER framework across the three pillars (methodology, software & system, operations) based on key data driven decision that support the effective running of BER coordination
Responsibilities
