About the Role:
We are currently hiring an experienced and motivated Cook/Kitchen Assistant to join our dedicated catering team in Wicklow. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for cooking and food service in a supportive, community-focused environment.
Kitchen Duties:
Prepare, cook, present, and serve a range of meals for our society members
Provide guidance and support to kitchen assistants
Assist the Catering Manager with daily kitchen operations
Ensure high standards of food hygiene and health & safety are maintained
Follow HACCP guidelines and complete all required records
Control portion sizes and reduce waste to stay within budget
Clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and floors according to daily and deep cleaning schedules
Manage washing up and laundry tasks as needed
Rotate and clean stock in cold rooms, freezers, and storage areas
Help place stock orders when required
Dining Room Duties:
Clear and reset tables after meals, replacing tablecloths as necessary
Load and unload the dishwasher; dry and store utensils and dishes
Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness in serving and wash-up areas
Ensure hygiene standards are upheld at all times
Empty and disinfect swill bins and manage waste disposal properly
Competencies Required:
Proven experience as a cook, ideally in a similar environment
Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety practices
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Attention to detail and a solid knowledge of food preparation
A flair and passion for cooking good, wholesome food
What We Offer:
€17–€18 per hour, depending on experience
