Flexsource are currently working with one of our Clients, a specialist in the distribution of temperature controlled products, delivering chilled products all over Ireland to recruit a General Manager of Home Deliveries for their Main DC in South Dublin
With over 20 years of experience and a fleet of over 200 vehicles, they provide a nationwide distribution services for their many clients within Ireland
The purpose of the role would be to have overall responsibility for the Home Deliveries function including the day-to-day management and scheduling of the driver team
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximise customer service by providing the highest possible levels of reliability and punctuality – continually reinforcing a customer service culture throughout their team and the wider organisation
- Have overall responsibility for the day-to-day planning and scheduling of home deliveries in designated stores across the ROI
- Manage the Home Delivery fleet and routing, ensuring customer-first approach is adopted and balanced with operational efficiency
- Manage, motivate, provide guidance and direction to direct reports while maximising driver and vehicle utilisation
- Work on ensuring adequate staff, including managing and scheduling annual leave and staffing accordingly
- Ensure correct resource management is implemented to maximise seasonal demand spike potentials
- Manage fleet maintenance and replacement to minimise downtime and repairs whilst maximising return on investment
- Work with relevant nominated person to prepare and manage budgets as required
Key Requirements:
- Proven track record and experience of a minimum of 5 years in a transport/logistics management role
- Experience in managing the planning and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries
- Experience of dynamic routing software would be an advantage
- Ability to read demand trends and provide appropriate action plans, and where necessary workaround plans
- Experience of coaching, mentoring and motivating personnel in a commercially focused time bound environment. Work with calling out and helping teams resolve issues and equally celebrate successes
- Capable of operating within a customer centric environment with the ability to be cooperative, communicative and a problem solver ensuring a hassle-free customer experience which is a key driver to customer retention
- Degree or qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transport Manager CPC or relevant qualification is desirable. Alternatively, other relevant transport management experience in place of a formal qualification will be considered
