Job Title: Lead Engineering Technician (Electrical/Instrumentation)
Location: Malahide
Industry – Beverage Production
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm or 10:00am – 6:00pm (No shift work)
Cpl are once again working as the retained recruitment partner with our client who are a heritage brand in the Irish Beverage manufacturing industry.
As the business continues to grow, their engineering and maintenance team is expanding, and they are looking to review a Senior Electrical Lead Technician to support the engineering Manager.
Role Summary:
They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Engineering Technician with a strong background in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) to join our engineering team.
This role is key to implementing a proactive, reliability-focused maintenance strategy, including condition monitoring, PPM, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvement projects.
The successful candidate will lead and support technical initiatives that drive equipment performance, minimize downtime, and enhance operational efficiency across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and develop a structured maintenance program, ensuring alignment with best practices and operational targets.
• Implement and manage condition monitoring systems to proactively identify equipment degradation and avoid unplanned downtime.
• Coordinate and supervise electrical and instrumentation (E&I) maintenance activities, including PPM schedules.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults across electrical systems, control panels, PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation (flow, temperature, pressure, etc.).
• Lead the rollout and ongoing development of the OEE system to monitor performance, identify losses, and support data-driven improvements.
• Support and deliver continuous improvement projects, collaborating cross-functionally with production, quality, and operations.
• Champion RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and corrective action implementation.
• Ensure compliance with national electrical standards and internal safety and quality procedures.
• Support commissioning of new equipment and E&I upgrades.
• Maintain accurate records in the site’s CMMS.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior technicians.
• Ensure all work adheres to LOTO, permit-to-work, and other site safety systems.
Requirements:
Essential:
• Time-served electrical apprenticeship or equivalent Level 6/7 qualification in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation.
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within FMCG, food & beverage, or a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience implementing and managing maintenance programs and condition-based monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley), drives, controls, and calibration of industrial instrumentation.
• Working knowledge of OEE systems and performance improvement tools.
• Strong leadership and people development skills.
• Proficiency with CMMS platforms (SAP, Maximo, etc.).
Desirable:
• Background in Lean, TPM, or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Previous experience with SCADA systems and automation.
• Certification in electrical safety/testing (e.g., IS 10101 compliance).
