Overview:
Seeking an experienced Pipeline Protection Engineer to support the safe operation of natural gas transmission and distribution infrastructure. Reporting to the Senior Pipeline Safety Engineer, this role serves as the primary liaison between internal teams and third parties involved in developments near pipeline assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the central contact for third-party development queries affecting transmission or distribution mains.
- Liaise with stakeholders including local authorities, utility operators, developers, landowners, and contractors.
- Assess development impacts and recommend appropriate pipeline protection measures.
- Maintain and manage a GIS-based database for tracking third-party activity.
- Issue maps, drawings, and technical guidance to external parties.
- Prepare reports for internal use and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to third-party engagement.
- Coordinate with internal teams including inspectors, liaison officers, and safety personnel.
- Support safety awareness campaigns and process safety initiatives.
- Lead continuous improvement of third-party activity tracking systems.
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of engineering experience, preferably in natural gas transmission/distribution.
- Knowledge of safety management systems and risk assessment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Proficient in using GIS and relevant digital tools.
- Proven ability to manage complex issues and influence across teams.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
