Job summary:
Reporting to the Product Lead, the Product Owner will focus on best-in-class product ownership processes and implementations, in line with WBA Technology Center’s responsibilities as a Software as a Service provider. We are looking for someone who is looking to leverage their experience and transition to an elevated governance role where they will be responsible for driving the alignment of product development with organisational goals and compliance requirements within their product. They will work closely with the Product Lead, managing the product backlog and prioritising features based on strategic value and governance criteria. They will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that all product development activities adhere to the organisation's governance standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, they will offer support in driving maximum quality and process excellence in the product engineering and development process, in line with the remit of the organisation.
Moreover, The Product Owner will work with engineering teams (internal as well as 3rd party) to guide them in pursuing the highest business value that can be achieved for the whole product and to make sure processes are correctly performed, and standards are adhered to. They will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle starting from the assessment of the initial business requirements, their elaboration and refinement, sprint planning and progress, test planning, monitoring tests progress and attending Demos.
What you will do:
- Collaborate with the Product Leads to understand the product vision and strategy and input into the product development roadmap, highlighting key dependencies that should be considered.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration with product management, UX, engineering, architecture, test, and other relevant teams to identify the optimal solution to satisfy the business’s requirements.
- Collaborate with other Product Owners to ensure the entire portfolio roadmap is understood and ensure alignment around product goals, objectives and plans.
- Ensure that the engineering teams (internal and 3rd party) perform a detailed level of business analysis, write quality user stories and acceptance criteria, fully map the 'end to end’ including integrations, and ensure requirements and UX design is fully aligned.
- Oversee ’ the engineering teams’ output, making sure processes and agreed best practices are adhered to.
- Review and provide input into the logical division of requirements, which will help form part of the overall delivery plan.
- Ensure that the engineering teams (internal and 3rd party) validate the user stories based on the acceptance criteria given.
- Take an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals.
- Act as an agent of change and improvement by implementing a standard agile methodology across the portfolio.

- A bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience as Product Owner/Business Analyst on complex platforms.
- Strong business analysis skills and requirements-gathering techniques (e.g. Workshops etc.).
- Proficiency in BPMN (Business Process Modelling and Notation).
- Good understanding of user experience (UX) design and concepts.
- Strong business acumen.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive attitude and self-motivated.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- The ability to perform analysis at a platform level with a constant focus on end-to-end requirements coverage and test-driven approach.

- Agile development methodologies and digital transformation.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as product management, UX, engineering, architecture, and testing.
- Complex platforms with integrations between internal systems and 3rd parties.
- Critically reviewing requirements documentation and providing objective feedback.
- Implementing best practices such as standards for user stories, acceptance criteria definition, user stories mapping.
- Functional and non-functional testing acceptance criteria definition and product QA (Quality Assurance) reports analysis.
- Performing impact analysis.
- Presenting solutions to stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
