The Opportunity
A leading financial services organization is seeking a Data Analyst Contractor to support a high-impact cybersecurity initiative within its Infrastructure and Application Security division. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver data-driven insights that shape enterprise-wide security solutions.
Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, technically strong in SQL and data modeling, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret data to support cybersecurity initiatives related to vulnerability, malware, and infrastructure configuration.
- Gather requirements, perform gap analysis, and support data-driven decision making for engineering and product stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations using Tableau and/or Power BI.
- Build and refine data pipelines and data flows, working across multiple source systems and databases.
- Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and architects to ensure alignment between business goals and data strategy.
- Support data governance, data quality, and lineage initiatives.
- Translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models in relational environments.
- Contribute to agile ceremonies and work within Scrum or Kanban frameworks.
Required Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of experience as a data or business analyst, preferably within enterprise environments.
- Strong SQL expertise and comfort working across platforms such as Oracle and Postgres.
- Proven ability to build interactive dashboards with Tableau and/or Power BI.
- Deep understanding of data modeling concepts (dimensional, relational) and practical experience creating and managing data models.
- Familiarity with data governance, lineage tracking, and data quality practices.
- Experience documenting data flows and managing end-to-end source-to-target data mapping.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools (e.g., DBT, SnapLogic, or similar).
- Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum/Kanban) and collaborating with cross-functional roles.
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical data insights into business value.
- Previous experience in the cybersecurity or risk domain is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- AWS certifications or exposure to cloud data platforms is a plus.
