On Wednesday, May 15th Cpl and the HBA hosted an event on the 'Gender Pay Gap: What's Happened and What's Coming Next?' at The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.

It's been well reported that it could take over 200 years to close the gender pay gap. In fact, Ireland's pay gap has actually increased in recent years.

At the event, MinisterDavid Stantonspoke about the progress that has been made with gender pay gap reporting legislation.Siobhan O'Shea,Diversity and Inclusion lead at Cpl, then advised on battling your own pay gap and negotiating your next pay rise - including striking statistics such as

  • 53% of women have never asked for a raise, compared to 40% of men
  • Just 7% of female graduates attempted to negotiate an initial job offer, compared to 57% of males

The evening then concluded with a panel discussion with the speakers,David Gallagher fromPfizer,Rachel Hussey from the30% Club and Cpl CEOAnne Heraty allmoderated byJanette Muehlhausen(VP, Global Partner Programs, GTM at Medidata Solutions).
