Automation Engineer (Westport)
Summary:
Supports the Business Unit with daily automation and control system issues to ensure reliable delivery of the production schedule. Works on shift to troubleshoot, improve, and manage automation systems and small projects across manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day automation support to production units, including troubleshooting and system recovery.
- Implement equipment and process improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Lead small automation projects and contribute to the automation elements of capital expenditure projects.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of automated systems.
- Collaborate with BTS (IT) and Maintenance teams to resolve control and networking issues.
- Participate in technical problem-solving forums related to manufacturing, aseptic fill, and packaging.
- Provide off-shift and weekend support on a rotational basis.
- Attend Tier 2 departmental meetings and external meetings as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years’ experience supporting automation control systems and client/server architectures.
- Proficiency with Siemens and Rockwell (Allen Bradley) PLC systems.
- Experience with SCADA systems such as Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens WinCC, iFix, or Wonderware.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and automation troubleshooting.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts and provide weekend callout coverage as required.
