We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Risk Officer (PCF-14) to manage a leading, high-performing risk function in a fast-paced, highly regulated financial services environment. This role involves direct reporting to the Board and overseeing all aspects of risk management, governance, and compliance. You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the firm’s resilience, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the risk management function, reporting key risk indicators to the Board.
- Develop, maintain, and annually review the firm’s Recovery Plan, Wind Down Plan, Resolution Plan, and Internal Capital Adequacy and Risk Assessment (ICARA).
- Manage internal stress testing processes and ensure accurate, timely submissions to regulators.
- Develop and oversee the internal audit charter, risk-based audit plans, and ARCC terms of reference.
- Lead climate-related financial risk management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all risk management systems, policies, and procedures, including:
- Agreeing the firm’s risk appetite and tolerance statements with the Board.
- Managing a universal risk register and risk assessment process.
- Drafting and maintaining the Risk Management Framework.
- Oversee independence of the internal audit function from external audit.
- Test 1st line risk management tools, deliver risk management training, and oversee certain regulatory reporting requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years’ experience in a senior risk role, ideally with PCF-14 experience in a MiFID investment firm (equities/CFDs focus).
- Experience with systematic internalisers, MTFs, Exchanges, or algorithmic trading tools (RTS 6) in highly regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and brokerage industry, particularly retail flow.
- Deep, current knowledge of market practices and relevant regulation (including IFR/IFD).
- Minimum degree in a relevant field (STEM, Business, Law, Economics).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly.
- Resilient and adaptable under pressure, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- High attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and sound regulatory understanding.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
