Current Need:
The SK pharmteco Ireland team here at the Swords Campus are looking for an Environmental Laboratory Technician on a permanent contact reporting primarily to the Environmental Manager.
The successful candidate will support the Environmental Laboratory (SHE) and the Quality Control Laboratory (QC) in the delivery of the site Industrial Emissions Licence monitoring program, as well as the testing of raw materials/intermediates/APIs/water and completion of environmental monitoring (microbial air monitoring)
Position Description:
Within the Environmental Laboratory
· To plan and carryout Environmental sampling and analysis in a timely manner to required standards. This includes Surface Water samples, River samples, Biological Wastewater Treatment samples, Waste Solvent samples, the monitoring of Emissions to Air as well as Odour & Noise monitoring.
· Perform analysis on Wastewater Treatment samples to include pH, Conductivity, Chemical Oxygen Demand & Suspended Solids.
· Perform analysis on Waste Solvent samples to include Karl Fischer titration (KF), GC-FID & Residue on Evaporation (ROE).
· Ensure that laboratory equipment is maintained and serviced as required.
· Ensure that the laboratory maintains stocks of reagents/consumables needed to carry out testing.
· Collect environmental samples and arrange for these to be sent to independent laboratories for analysis. Review and log sample results. Highlight any non-conforming trends/results.
· Partake in interlaboratory proficiency testing schemes (LGC, EPA).
· Produce reports as required under the site IE Licence, ISO14001 and other relevant legislation/standards.
· Liaise with and manage third party contractors for the delivery of the Industrial Emissions Environmental Licence monitoring and testing programme.
Within the QC Laboratory
· The testing of raw materials will involve the use of the classical analytical technologies including Raman, FTIR, KF, and titration.
· Testing of water will involve TOC, conductivity, pH and microbial analysis.
· Microbial air monitoring covers the sampling and testing for viable particulates in the GMP rooms in SK Biotek Ireland. Viable Air Monitoring is conducted to determine the amount of microbial content in the air. This is performed with Passive and Active air samples taken during operations on a routine basis.
· Assist with investigations relating to analysis of raw materials, air monitoring and water testing.
· Perform trending of results and investigate any out of trends or adverse trends present in analytical results.
· Engage and fully participate in QC daily huddle meetings and short interval control boards.
Minimum Requirements:
· Degree/Diploma qualification in a Science related discipline.
· Knowledge of Industrial Emissions licence and Environmental legislation would be an advantage but not essential.
· Ideally, you will have previous laboratory experience.
· IT literate with excellent spreadsheet knowledge.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work individually and as a member of a team.
