I am currently working on behalf of a client to recruit for a Finance Administrator to join their team in East Galway. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong finance administration and supervisory experience, particularly in payroll, reporting, and managing a small team.
The successful candidate will contribute to the effective operation of the finance section, working in a busy environment and supervising a small team of clerical staff. You will manage key administrative areas such as payroll, travel and subsistence, and will also support senior staff through reporting, compliance, and ongoing process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and allocate daily work to clerical staff to ensure deadlines are consistently met
- Oversee payroll processing and reporting functions
- Manage travel and subsistence claims and payment processing
- Ensure all documentation is properly authorised, retained, and GDPR-compliant
- Prepare working time reports and other management information for budget holders
- Liaise with internal teams, auditors, and external stakeholders as needed
- Produce guidance and training materials for users of finance systems
- Support the development and implementation of finance-related policies and procedures
- Provide reports, analysis, and administrative support to senior management
- Contribute to team development and resource planning
- Promote equality, compliance, and best practices in line with internal policies
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a finance or payroll administration role
- Strong working knowledge of payroll and expense systems
- Experience supervising or leading small teams
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and compliance
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
