Financial Accountant
Our client, a major nationwide healthcare group, are now expanding & looking to hire an experienced Financial Accountant to join their Limerick city-based team, on a permanent basis, so if you are interested, please apply!
The Role:
The Financial Accountant will play an integral role in the efficient and effective operation of the Finance Department and will be responsible for managing and completing the monthly management accounts process.
Reporting to the Finance Operations Manager, the ideal candidate will complete their tasks, including those listed below, to the highest standard.
Duties and Responsibilities to include:
Management Accounts
· Prepare monthly management accounts, including month-end journals and reconciliations
· Lead preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors during the audit process
· Deliver detailed cost reports and variance analyses to support strategic decision-making and budgetary control
· Prepare and submit monthly management reports, including financial data and KPIs, to meet reporting requirements and support informed decisions
Banking & Cashflow
· Review monthly bank reconciliations across all accounts
· Monitor cashflow to ensure organisational requirements are met
Accounts Payable & Procurement
Review and authorise payments
Lead implementation of new ICT solutions for the Accounts Payable function
Accounts Receivables & Income
· Supervise receivables and income systems
Finance Department Cover
· Provide hands-on cover for the Finance Operations Manager during periods of planned leave and other absence
· Provide hands-on cover for the Finance Officer – Financial Reporting during periods of planned leave and other absence
· Participate in special projects as required
· Provide guidance on finance issues to service area administrative staff
· Represent the organisation on national working groups as required
· Confidential information may be accessed at times and staff must ensure that the highest level of confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Skills & Experience that we need:
· Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Accounting or Business
· Membership of an approved accountancy body e.g. (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
· Significant experience relevant to the Financial Accountant role particularly in the areas of Monthly Reporting, Year-End Accounts and External Audit
· The requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, initiative and interpersonal skills) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office
· Appreciation of the rights and needs of people with intellectual disabilities & their families
· Willingness to assume significant responsibility, ownership and accountability
· Flexibility and adaptability with a logical approach to problem solving and sound judgement
· Ability to remain calm under pressure and when dealing with problems
· Experience of working on statutory audits in an accounting practice
· Experience of budget preparation
· Experience of development of internal control systems
Professional Knowledge
· Excellent understanding of the purpose and principles of accounting and financial reporting
· Excellent understanding of the process and purpose in respect of Bank Reconciliations
· Excellent numeracy, analytical and report writing skills
· Knowledge and experience of financial audits, both internal and external, and an excellent understanding of the role of the Finance Team in respect of same
· Excellent MS Office skills, particularly significant skill, knowledge and experience in MS Excel

The Offer:
This position is being offered on a permanent basis with salary scale ranging from €60,013K to €78,015K, depending on the candidates experience and qualifications (Grade VII).
Fully onsite role based in our clients Limerick city office, Monday to Friday.
