Fire Prevention Officer, Engineer
Locations; Medical Facilities Southeast (Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford, Waterford and South Tipperary).
Our client, an institution of state, is seeking to recruit a Fire Prevention Officer to inspect, assess, monitor and provide the risk management advice on the Fire Health and Safety for their hi-tech Process and Healthcare Facilities with include hospitals, primary care and community care facilities.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Regular inspections of buildings, means of escape and all fire-fighting equipment and ensuring that all such equipment is properly located, well-marked, in good repair and in good working order.
- Providing risk management advice.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory rules and legal obligations.
- Reviewing fire orders, drawing up evacuation schemes, and arranging fire drills.
- Carrying out risk assessments.
- Specifying and identifying the most suitable equipment.
- Liaising with the many and diverse stakeholders.
- Identifying fire hazards and fire risks and implementing safety measures.
- Implementing and promoting fire safety awareness.
- Designing and implementing best practice solutions for achieving fire safety.
To be considered for the role you must:
- Hold a FETAC level 7 qualification (NQF) in engineering, fire engineering, architecture, Health and Safety or Building Services/Building Survey. Applicants from the Fire Brigade Services with experience outlined above are welcome
- Have two years’ experience in comparable Fire and Safety role.
- Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of Fire Safety legislation, Fire Safety Certificates, Fire Safety Regulations and codes of practice.
- Have experience of Fire Safety Risk Assessment.
- Be competent in preparing and submitting fire safety certificate applications.
- Have good IT skills and be a competent records keeper with strong report writing skills.
- Have ability to make decisions and prioritise the tasks.
- Have excellent communications and team management skills.
- Hold a full clean driving licence and have own transport.
Remuneration is negotiable depending on candidate’s experience, suitability and fit for the role. The salary is c €50,000per annum. + paid holiday @ 30 days plus bank holidays + expenses. Working week is 35 hours Monday to Friday
