This is a senior-level technical role responsible for the support, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of ICT infrastructure and services across the organisation. The role involves providing second and third-level support for both clinical and non-clinical systems, overseeing installations and configurations, and ensuring systems remain secure, efficient, and aligned with best practices.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, be self-motivated, demonstrate leadership and communication skills, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level support and troubleshooting for core ICT systems
- Manage installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software
- Act as technical lead on major application and system implementations
- Build and configure new servers and environments
- Support and maintain cybersecurity tools and protocols
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to manage system integrations and service delivery
- Ensure documentation and compliance with relevant ICT standards and policies
- Assist in ICT project planning and delivery
- Provide input into IT strategy and service improvement initiatives
Essential Experience
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco ASA firewalls
- Experience leading major application installations
- Strong background in Microsoft Server infrastructure
- Experience in ICT project management
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and processes
- Comfortable working with third-party service providers
- Working knowledge of wireless infrastructure, SAN (Storage Area Network), and Fibre Channel
Desirable Experience
- Experience with VMware vCenter/vSphere in high-availability environments
- Familiarity with LAN networking devices and associated systems
- Experience with Veeam Enterprise Backup solutions
- SAN network topology and management experience
- Microsoft or Cisco certifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare, education, or regulated sector is a plus
Qualifications & Requirements
- Honours degree or postgraduate qualification in Computing / IT
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar ICT support or infrastructure role
- Strong knowledge of:
- LAN/WAN/VLAN topologies
- TCP/IP
- Active Directory
- Virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware)
- Windows Server
- Veeam backup solutions
- MCP, CCNA or CCNP certification required
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
