Materials Planner
Job Summary:
The role involves the scheduling and purchasing of raw materials and packaging to facilitate on time in full production at the production facility. The candidate will work closely with the production planner and warehouse personnel to ensure an efficient and quality driven supply of materials to the plant. The role will also require the maintenance and creation of solid professional relationships with suppliers.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Create, release, and maintain POs to ensure forecasted demand and the production plan are fulfilled through MRP.
Purchase of materials to monthly forecasts form the markets to ensure continuity in production.
Manage packaging call offs from consigned supplier stocks and external warehouses to ensure the production plan is fulfilled using Distribution Orders. This will also include the shipping of material to external warehouses.
Analyse the forecast vs packaging orders and flag any stock out issues where appropriate. Sending forecast to suppliers where appropriate.
Manage supplier relationships and performance through establishing consistent communication links with the use of balanced scorecards.
Maintain a safe and efficient stock level in the packaging and raw material warehouses by paying attention to MOQs, EOQs and forecasts.
Prepare and send the daily delivery schedule including delivery times and quantities to the Logistics Lead and Warehouse team.
Managing the introduction of new materials and the economic changeover from old to new.
Sending artworks for new packaging materials to suppliers for printer proofing. This involves creating new item numbers for packaging materials in the ERP system.
Maintain our supplier database and continue to perform supplier setups.
Manage and rectify invoice queries through liaison with finance and suppliers.
Maintain master data on our ERP system in relation to Purchase Agreements, BOMs, item numbers and closing POs.
Candidate profile:
The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of the requirements of manufacturing, logistics, marketing, sales and finance and how all interact on a daily basis. You will be a pro-active, analytical self-starter, confident in your decision-making abilities. A dynamic, flexible person, you must be a good communicator with strong inter-personal skills and possess the ability to deal with a fast-paced environment and embrace change. A logical and organised approach to continuous improvement is essential.
Key Requirements & Attributes:
Background of at least 2 years in FMCG with experience of the dairy industry however food, beverage, pharma or other process industries will be considered.
Capable of building and maintaining good working relationships with customers and suppliers.
The successful candidate will understand the requirements of manufacturing and supply chain, and how all interact daily.
Possess a desire to continuously improve.
Ambitious and results driven.
IT literate with good Excel skills.
Must be a high energy and responsive individual.
3rd level qualification or relevant industry experience.
