Electrical Building Services Design Engineer
CPL have partnered with Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to recruit for an Electrical Building Services Design Engineer (HPTO) to join their team on a temporary contract, with possibility of extension.
· Pay Rate - £19.59 per/hr
· Location – DoF, CPD Property Services Division- Clare House
· Benefits – 37 days holiday per annum
· Hours – 37 hours per week
The key duties include:
· Feasibility, design and contract managing the installation of electrical building services works projects (up to a value of £500k).
Typical electrical designs may include the following electrical building services:
Ø fixed electrical wiring, general & emergency lighting, fire alarm & associated fire safety systems, door access systems, standby electrical power systems.
· Contract managing electrical and multi-discipline works projects (up to a value of £500k)
· Managing Professional & Technical staff, external consultants, apprentices & placement students.
· Advising clients on a variety of electrical building services related issues including planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
· Liaising with other professional and technical staff in the division, the contract management team and with client representatives to effectively maintain the client’s property estate to ensure satisfactory use for intended purpose and value for money.
· Maintaining branch performance and client delivery including the use of various software applications such as computer aided design packages and computer aided facilities management (CAFM) systems in compliance with all statutory, health and safety, policy, good practice requirements and associated guidance.
· Compliance with public sector procurement policy.
· Maintaining and continuously developing professional knowledge and competence to provide a leading source of expertise and authoritative advice and ensure high professional standards and decision making.
· Creating, maintaining and enhancing effective working relationships.
· Contributing to NICS reform and business improvement activities where appropriate.
· Any other relevant duties as required by line management.
Essential Experience/Qualifications
· An NVQ Level 4 qualification in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering
AND
· A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the design of electrical building services within buildings*
* Includes: office accommodation, educational facilities, healthcare facilities, complex multi-occupancy housing developments, retail facilities, or other sectors of similar scope, technical complexity and regulatory requirements, but would exclude domestic properties.
Desired Experience/Qualifications
· A Degree in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 1 years’ experience in the design of electrical building services within buildings*
* Includes: office accommodation, educational facilities, healthcare facilities, complex multi-occupancy housing developments, retail facilities, or other sectors of similar scope, technical complexity and regulatory requirements, but would exclude domestic properties.
Relevant or Equivalent Qualifications
Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
