Process Technician
Responsible for supporting manufacturing operations through process engineering activities, including the creation of technical documentation and optimization of production methods. Works as part of the Engineering team to ensure products are manufactured in line with company and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Support production by creating and validating CNC programs for lathes and milling machines
- Modify G code to ensure the first produced part meets drawing specifications
- Assist with the design and implementation of tooling, jigs, and fixtures
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actions
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and intervene where necessary to enhance performance
- Train operators, line leads, and trainers on process updates and enhancements
- Provide technical support to Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
- Assist engineers in designing standard products using established procedures
- Prepare cost analyses for Sales using standard templates
- Create and maintain item masters, bills of materials (BOM), and routing for manufactured products
- Select efficient manufacturing methods to support production goals
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure the correct raw materials are available
- Produce manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD
- Ensure all Engineering and Manufacturing change control processes are followed
Requirements
- Third-level engineering qualification preferred but not essential
- Strong hands-on experience with CNC machining, including lathes or milling machines
- Proficiency in drafting techniques with 2D and 3D CAD software
- General understanding of engineering standards and best practices
- Experience with manufacturing techniques and materials within a machine shop environment
- 2–5 years’ experience in a machine-oriented manufacturing setting desirable
- Effective communication skills, including listening, written, verbal, and interpersonal abilities
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capability
- Proactive self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong work ethic with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Positive attitude with motivation to succeed in the role
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new processes
