Position Summary
The RCMF is part of Chemical Research and Development (CRD), within Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule (PSSM), part of the Worldwide Research, Development and Medicinal Sciences (WRDM) organization. The RCMF will scale up new clinical products developed in our CRD laboratory at our research site in the U.S. (Groton, Connecticut) and will tech transfer successful new products from the RCMF to our commercial manufacturing site in Ringaskiddy.
The Logistics Technician will be required to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the warehouse and logistics operations. The Logistics Technician will interact with computerized inventory systems to maintain accurate inventory records and will be responsible for maintaining GMP and safety standards within the warehousing areas.
Responsibilities
1. Understand and comply with all policies and procedures relating to inventory management within the RCMF including safety and cGMP
2. Perform clerical and physical tasks in connection with all facets of material handling activities including but not limited to:
· Loading and unloading of goods
· Verification of materials received via visual inspection and comparison against technical documents
· Storage of materials in a variety of environments (vertical racking systems, cold storage etc.) while adhering to segregation requirements
· Staging and distribution of materials per end-user requests, picking of raw and packaging materials to fulfil batch requests
· Dispensing of materials in downflow booths / containment isolators using appropriate protective equipment in conjunction with Operations Technologists
· Movement of goods and materials
3. Responsible for the sampling and testing (where applicable) of raw materials using spectroscopic techniques and working closely with ARD Analysts to approve material for general use
4. Data entry and retrieval from electronic inventory data systems. Prepares and keeps accurate records for all goods received, distributed, and shipped
5. Performs inventory maintenance tasks such as cycle counts and space optimization to ensure inventory is accurate and controlled
6. Enforces good housekeeping and safety standards within the warehouse and dispensing areas
7. Liaising with freight forwarders to organize shipments
8. Preparation of goods and documentation for shipment
9. Handling and preparation of waste for segregated storage and onwards removal and shipment
10. Assists in the shipment of chemical samples against requestors shipping documentation
11. Additional responsibilities as the business requires e.g. repacking, shipping, purchasing, inventory management etc.
Qualifications/Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
· Have at least a level 7 or higher (NFQ framework) qualification in pharma, biopharma, inventory management or equivalent
· At least 3-5 years’ relevant logistics experience in either API/ Biopharma manufacturing or Food Processing
· Proactive and effective communication skills
· Familiarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and EH&S practices
· Fork truck, electrical pallet truck, reach truck trained with appropriate experience
· DGSA qualified an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
· Comfortable as part of a highly competent and self-motivated team, and will have the ability to deal with the challenges as and when they arise
· Demonstrated evidence of high performance in a continuous improvement-oriented work environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, team orientation and attention to detail
· Facilitation of an environment of open and team-based communication where all members of the Process Team work together to ensure that business targets are met
