As a Senior QA Automation Engineer you’ll be the quality lead embedded in cross-functional squads, designing automation strategies that keep pace with event-driven microservices, APIs, and front-end experiences. You’ll collaborate with developers, SREs, and product partners to codify quality into the pipeline, surface risks early, and continuously evolve our tooling and practices. This is a hands-on automation role where you’ll build frameworks, coach teams on shift left testing, and help us leverage AI-assisted tooling to move faster and smarter.
The role:
· Embed quality earlier in the lifecycle: pair with engineers on TDD/BDD, contract tests, schema validation, and data seeding.
· Design and execute performance, scalability, and resiliency tests (load, soak, chaos) aligned to SLIs/SLOs; integrate results into observability dashboards.
· Implement CI/CD quality gates, reusable test data pipelines, and AI-assisted test generation/maintenance to accelerate feedback loops.
· Partner with SRE/Platform teams on non-functional requirements: security testing, compliance (PCI, PSD2), logging/alerting, environment management.
· Own quality metrics and reporting for your squad; highlight risks, track remediation, and drive continuous improvement retrospectives.
· Leverage AI copilots and tooling to generate scripts, analyse failures, and accelerate root-cause analysis while enforcing responsible-use guardrails.
· Participate in peer design/test reviews, post-incident reviews, and guilds to share best practices across squads.
· Contribute to release-readiness checklists, change-control documentation, and automation runbooks used by support teams.
Experience:
· 6+ years in software quality assurance with a strong focus on automation in distributed/cloud-native systems.
· Hands-on expertise with automation frameworks.
· Experience testing event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, streaming) and API-first/microservice ecosystems.
· Demonstrated use of performance/load-testing tools and analysis of results to drive tuning.
· Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools and pipelines.
· Comfortable with Agile/iterative delivery models and shift-left/DevOps practices.
· Strong collaboration and communication chops: able to challenge designs, facilitate root-cause conversations, and influence cross-functional partners.
· Familiarity with AI-assisted testing or coding tools (e.g., Codex/Copilot) and the governance required for responsible use.
Experience that would be great to have
· Payments or financial-services domain experience.
· Knowledge of contract testing, data virtualization, synthetic data generation, and service virtualisation tools.
· Exposure to observability stacks (Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry) for quality and performance insights.
· Experience with security testing (OWASP ZAP, SAST/DAST) and compliance automation.
