Senior .NET Engineer - 12 month FTC (with likely extension to 18 months)
Our client is embarking on a focused 12 month transformation initiative to stabilise and modernise their enterprise Payroll and Billing technology platform.
They are hiring two senior contract engineers to take direct ownership of a complex, high volume financial ecosystem and drive measurable improvements in performance, resilience and structural integrity.
This is a business critical engagement backed at executive level, with a clearly defined mandate to strengthen live systems while laying foundations for future evolution.
The Role
The appointed engineers will:
- Take ownership of production critical payroll and billing platforms
- Diagnose and remediate long standing performance bottlenecks
- Refactor and optimise SQL intensive financial processes
- Improve architectural clarity across tightly coupled components
- Reduce operational risk across integrations and batch workflows
- Enhance system stability in a high transaction, regulated environment
- Prepare the platform for downstream modernisation initiatives
Technical Landscape
- C# and .NET across mixed legacy and newer services
- SQL Server with heavy stored procedure and batch processing logic
- Azure infrastructure and hosted services
- Middleware driven integrations and file based data exchanges
- Highly integrated, business critical financial systems
Experience Required
- 8 plus years of commercial software engineering experience
- Strong C# and .NET background across complex systems
- Deep SQL Server expertise including performance tuning and query optimisation
- Experience within payroll, billing, financial services, or high volume transactional environments
- Demonstrated success improving stability and performance in live production systems
- Ability to operate independently and take technical ownership
Contract Overview
- 12 month contract
- Hybrid working model, ideally 2 days onsite
- Immediate or near term availability preferred
