SHEQ Officer - Chester
We are currently working with a market leading company within the glass processing industry, this company have been pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with glass and it’s because of this they have gained such a good reputation on the market. We are currently assisting them with their recruitment for a health and safety officer.
Duties include:
• Implementation, supervision and development of programs for protection of the environment, health and safety at work
• Development, implementation and execution of comprehensive site strategies to ensure a safe workplace while ensuring compliance and minimizing liability.
• Provide advice, guidance and instruction in environmental, quality, health and safety matters to management and employees (including sub-contractors)
• Engaging with and influencing the Senior Leadership Team
• Compliance with local and Global Health, Safety and Environmental regulations, standards and policies, including the maintenance of a legal register for the site and communication of legislative changes
• Conduct site observations for safety compliance and behaviour-based inspections
• Management of the site incident investigation program, including training and guidance to relevant personnel, completing quality reviews and promoting near incident reporting
• Completion of analysis of health and safety statistical data
• Assessing detailed instructions regarding health and safety at individual workplaces
• Management of the risk assessment program on site, including participation in evaluation of occupational risk assessments where necessary
• Conduct general safety training and periodic training for employees
• Integration with Group IMS Management Systems (OSAS; EMS and EHS), ensuring standards are maintained to meet certification requirements
• Promote the company mission of being a healthy and incident and injury free workplace
• Lead the audit process and conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance
• Manage and lead the Quality Control department
Personal Specification
• Must hold a relevant qualification
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing/Production Environment
• Be flexible in working hours to accommodate shift cycles and multiple site locations where necessary
• Have excellent IT Skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Have strong organisational skills
• Enable and Drive Change
• Be able to strive and create a culture of can-do attitude.
• Fluency in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing English is required
