Technical Services Manager – District Heating Operations
Dublin (Hybrid: Site / Office / Remote)
Salary: €65,000 – €75,000 KPI Bonus, vehicle and benefits
This role is particularly well suited to a former HVAC service engineer / technician who has progressed into a supervisory, technical account management, or facilities services role and is looking to take ownership of a portfolio within a growing energy sector.
Our client, A leading energy infrastructure operator is seeking a Technical Services Manager to oversee the operational performance of a portfolio of district and communal heating systems across Dublin.
This role is ideal for a trade-qualified HVAC professional who has progressed from hands-on maintenance into a technical account or service management role, and enjoys combining site presence, contractor management, and client engagement.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager, who will provide structured onboarding and guidance, including site walkthroughs and operational insight during your first months.
This is a high-visibility role where you will take ownership of a portfolio of sites, ensuring systems remain safe, reliable, and operating efficiently.
The Role
This position combines field-based oversight, remote monitoring, and operational coordination.
The core focus is ensuring heating systems remain operational — prioritising outages and system performance while managing service contractors responsible for maintenance and repairs.
Working arrangements typically include:
· 3 days on site
· 1 day office based (Sandyford)
· 1 day remote working
Most sites are located within the M50 in Dublin, with occasional travel outside Dublin.
Key Responsibilities
Site & Operational Oversight
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) site visits across your portfolio.
- Ensure district heating systems remain safe, reliable, and operational.
- Prioritise system outages and technical issues that could impact heat supply.
- Act as the technical lead on-site during operational incidents.
Contractor Management
- Manage third-party contractors carrying out maintenance and repair works.
- Review and validate maintenance reports, quotes, and work quality.
- Challenge or escalate work where required to ensure standards are met.
- Coordinate reactive maintenance and corrective actions.
System Monitoring & Diagnostics
- Monitor heating systems remotely through BMS alarms and system alerts.
- Perform remote diagnostics and temperature analysis.
- Identify performance issues early and coordinate corrective actions.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with property managers, managing agents, and clients.
- Attend site meetings and provide technical updates on system performance.
- Support smooth onboarding of new developments into operation.
Reporting & Portfolio Management
- Produce technical reports and operational updates.
- Conduct monthly gas meter readings across portfolio sites.
- Ensure compliance documentation and system records are maintained.
Team Coordination
- Coordinate work and priorities for two service support team members. (direct reports)
- Work alongside a technical administration support function that manages customer enquiries and issue tracking (be point of contact for escalated technical issues).
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Trade qualification in HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services
- Experience working with commercial heating or HVAC systems
- Background in maintenance, service engineering, or building services operations
- Strong understanding of boilers, plantrooms, heating systems, and controls
- Experience managing contractors or service providers
- Ability to diagnose operational issues and coordinate solutions
- Strong communication skills with a client-facing mindset
- Full clean driver’s licence
- Experience with BMS or remote monitoring systems
- Exposure to district or communal heating systems (desirable)
- Experience in technical account management or service operations (desirable)
